Texas CE Requirements

Continuing Education requirements for Texas Real Estate Agents

In Texas, real estate license holders are required to renew their license every two years. The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) oversees the license renewal process and sets the requirements for license holders to stay active and compliant.

To renew their license, Texas real estate license holders must complete a specified number of continuing education (CE) courses.

18 Hours of Approved CE Courses:

  • 8 Hours of TREC legal update I and II
  • 3 Hours of contract related course work
  • 7 Hours of elective CE

It is important for Texas real estate license holders to renew their license on time. If the license is not renewed within six months of the expiration date, the license becomes inactive and the holder must complete additional CE courses and pay a late fee to reactivate it.
Overall, Texas real estate license renewal requires license holders to stay up-to-date with state and industry regulations and requirements, while also investing in their professional development through continuing education.

Once you know the required classes you need to take, you can find them through our filtering system in your ARTI account. Any class tagged with “Utah” has been approved for the state of Utah. You will also find classes tagged as “UT Core” and those classes are approved as core credit classes. All of our tags are directly applicable for the type of state as well as the type of CE credit approved.

You do not need to physically live in Utah or Nevada to obtain a real estate license in that state. However, our classes are only approved for the state that corresponds with that class. For example, taking the “Nevada Real Estate Sales Agent Pre-Licensing” class is only valid towards obtaining your real estate license in Nevada.

Right now ARTI Academics has been approved for Nevada and Utah.

Current real estate agents and real estate agents whose licenses have expired may qualify for an education waiver from the state. This waiver reduces the number of credit hours you will have to take. You can contact the state in which you are looking to obtain a real estate license to see if this applies to you.

If you have a state-issued education waiver please email an attachment of it to support@artiacademics.com. We will then guide you to a class with the appropriate credit hours.

While each real estate transaction is unique, there are various aspects that are similar. Our class ensures that you are familiar with key provisions, areas of concern, misconceptions and scenarios around the Real Estate Purchase Contract. We are excited to begin offering this course in 2019 with plenty of time for you to complete prior to your next renewal.

When Can I Take The Mandatory 3 Hour Residential Course?

We offer extensive training in the Property Management and Commercial Real Estate (coming soon) sectors.  That being said, it is not currently in our roadmap to provide the 3 hour mandatory classes. Why is Real Estate continuing education (CE) essential and relevant?

Continuing education allows agents to learn and expand their skill set in addition to meeting licensure requirements. The real estate industry is continuously experiencing changes and evolving;  it is imperative for agents to be up-to-date with new regulations and learn new techniques.  Most states require additional certification for existing licensees every two years. The continuing education classes on ARTI® Academics allows agents to acquire knowledge directly from experts in the field. These collaborative efforts were put together to provide an exceptional educational experience.
