Is the Utah Real Estate Exam Hard?

After you complete Real Estate school, in order to be eligible for a license, you need to take the exam.  You can find out more about it here.  Often times we're asked if it is difficult to pass the test.  The answer is no, it's not difficult as long as you're prepared!  One of the best ways to be prepared for it is by completing the ARTI Academics practice tests.  Prior to receiving your certificate of completion from the Real Estate School, you will have to pass a practice test.  You can always download more practice tests (we provide 5, total) to ensure you're ready to roll! While we're confident that you will do great, remember that if you don't pass the first time, you can study and take the exam again.  Following successful passing of the Utah Real Estate Exam, you have 90 days to request your license.

For more information around this topic, check out the Utah Division of Real Estate's website. You can also check out how you can be most prepared to pass the Utah Real Estate exam.

What is the difference between a real estate broker and a real estate agent?

While the terms Real Estate Broker and Real Estate Agent are often used interchangeably in Utah and Nevada, they are very different. A Real Estate Agent is an individual who has completed Real Estate School, either online or in person. They also must complete certain background checks and be approved by the State governing body.  This authorizes them to help buyers and sellers complete real estate transactions under the supervision of a Real Estate Broker. A Real Estate Broker has not only completed the requirements to become an Agent, but must also complete 120 more hours of formal education in addition to work experience. Because they are a Broker, they are eligible to open a Real Estate Brokerage and have Agents (and other Broker's) affiliate with their organization.  In the State of Utah, a Broker can be responsible for up to three real estate offices.

So is a being a Broker better than an Agent?

No.  What makes someone great in the real estate isn't dependent on that 120 hours of additional seat time or the title next to their name.  In fact, many agents are better than their brokers at selling real estate.  A great agent is someone that listens to their clients needs and helps them achieve their goals! A great Real Estate Brokerage, however, can make any agent, no matter their skill level, shine above their peers by providing superior marketing, technology, education, research, and support.

How do the Videos, Quizzes, Timers, and Slides work?

Each certificate, such as Real Estate Pre-Licensing or even a Continuing Education module consist of Courses and each course consists of various activities.  An activity can be a video, quiz, or slide, with the majority being video produced.  Videos can range anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes.

Q) Can I skip or fast forward a video?

A) No.  All content, including video, is designed for you to watch at the speed and pace it was created and to comply with Utah Real Estate Licensing requirements.  You are able to pause the video to review the topic in further or take notes.  This is to ensure that you are receiving all of the information needed to be successful in Real Estate.  After watching an activity in ARTI Academics, you can go to previously completed activities and review.

Q) Are slides timed and can I fast forward and pause?

A) Yes each slide in ARTI Academics is timed. You cannot fast forward through a slide (unless you've already watched it), but you can pause a slide by clicking anywhere on the slide if you need some additional time to study the topic, or take notes.

Q) Where do I find the study guides and practice quizzes for CE and Pre-Licensing?

A) All study guides and quizzes are in the course documents section, where you can download each document.  You can find "Course Documents" below the activity viewer in the lower right of your screen.  You will also find additional supplementary information, such as contracts and exhibits there.  If you're looking for all of the Utah real estate license study guides and practice tests combined into a single document, you can order it for free and download it here.

Q) Who do I contact if I have a problem with my courses?

A) You found a bug!? We try our best every day to make sure your education experience is as smooth as possible, but if you happen to run into a glitch, please click "report an issue" in the very bottom right of your screen so we can get it squashed! Please provide any information that you can that would be relevant for the developers.

Q) The time has not updated for the course when I finished, why is that?

A) Have no fear, when looking at the certificate review screen (the place you can resume your class), the time and hours will only update when you have completed a course!

How long do I have to complete the Utah Real Estate School Pre-Licensing?

While Utah's Division of Real Estate requirement is 1 year, we allow just 6 months.  This is more than enough time for any student to complete the material and pass the test. We want you to be successful passing the exam and if you took the 'Estates' course 10 months ago, for example, the likelihood of you being extremely well versed will decrease.  We pride ourselves on being high quality education and want you to have the best real estate educational experience. If for some reason, you feel that 6 months is not enough time for you to complete the course, please reach out to us!

How much will it cost before I can sell real estate?

The reason ARTI® Academics was started was to be a driving force in helping the Real Estate Industry become better at what we do.  Home buyers and sellers deserve much better than the same product they've received over the past 30 years.  This real estate school was built all around people with a passion to help move people forward in their career and be successful.  While the cost can differ a little bit, we're saving you up to $800 just for the real estate school portion making it free.  Remember, when you go into the real estate business, you are an entrepreneur and must manage it like your own business.  Depending on your marketing plan your costs can vary substantially.

You can plan for the following expenses:

    1. $0 - Real Estate School with ARTI Academics
    2. $250 -  for the test and the Utah Division of Real Estate fees.
  1. $1500 - National Association of REALTOR dues, your local real estate board dues, and MLS Access.
  2. Depending on which real estate brokerage you choose to affiliate with, you will have monthly costs in addition to signs, business cards, CRM, photography and other expenses.

How Long Does it Take to Go Through Utah Real Estate School?

Many people wonder how long it takes to go through Real Estate School in Utah. For a Sales Agent, Utah require 120 total hours, or 60 classes. 96 hours of the coursework is around Principles and Practices and the remaining 24 hours are Utah License Law. We recommend planning 1 - 2 months to go through the coursework at ARTI® Academics in the Utah Real Estate School.

If you're pursuing a Utah Real Estate Brokers license, a total of 120 hours are also required. 45 for Broker Principles, 45 for Broker Practices, and 30 for Utah Law. This is of course followed with an exam that must be completed at an authorized Pearson Vue testing center.
